A Calmer Link Editor, Previewed in Your Own Theme

Opening a link now shows an overview with every setting and its current value. Each setting gets its own page, and the image, layout and animation previews are painted in your own theme.

Most of the time you spend in Linkhiver goes into one link at a time: fixing its address, changing its picture, deciding how it should sit on your page. The screen for that has been rebuilt — the same settings, with a calmer way through them.

An overview instead of a long form

Opening a link used to mean one long form with folding sections, and the setting you came for was usually further down. Now the editor opens on an overview. The fields you actually type into sit at the top — the address and the title — and every other setting is a row under them: Block type, Link image, Layout, Animation and Scheduling, each with its current value beside it. You can read the whole state of a link without opening anything.

Tap a row and that setting opens on a page of its own, with a back arrow to the overview. Nothing else competes with it while you decide.

Previews painted in your theme

The link image, layout and animation pages don't show your choice on the dashboard's grey. They draw it on your page — your wallpaper, your button shape and colours, your font — with a small note saying which theme it is painted from.

That matters most on a phone. On a wide screen the page preview sits beside the editor; on a phone there is no room for it, so until now you saved first and looked afterwards. Now the preview is right where you choose.

  • Link image shows the button as your page will draw it, above the choices: site icon, your own image, a GIF from GIPHY, an icon (for plain links) or no image. The option you pick opens its panel right under itself.
  • Layout shows Classic and Featured side by side, each on your own wallpaper.
  • Animation plays every effect on your own button, so you pick wiggle or glow by watching it, not by reading its name.

Switches that are easy to hit

Visible on your profile, Show as QR, Pin to top and Lock link are now whole rows. Tap anywhere on the row, not just the small switch at the end of it.

Adding a block starts with one box

Add to your page opens on a single field: paste a link or type what you're looking for. A pasted address is recognised and offered as the Best match, with Save to add it as it is or Details to fill in the rest first. Below it, every block type sits in a grid of tiles.

For keyboards and screen readers

Every picker in the editor is one stop for the Tab key, and the arrow keys move between its options. The switches announce whether they are on, and a layout you can't use yet explains why right under the cards, in words a screen reader reads out.

What did not change

Your links. Nothing was moved or rewritten — the redesign is the screen, not the data. The editor is the same on every plan. Animations and the Featured layout are still part of Pro, and you can try any animation in the editor before deciding.

Open any link from Links in your dashboard to see it. It's on the What's new page with the rest of this month's changes — or create a free page and try it.
