Why this wave is happening now

Two dated changes account for most of it, and both are worth reading yourself rather than taking from a thread.

  • November 2025: Linktree's paid tiers rose sharply — Starter from $5 to $8, Pro from $9 to $15 and Premium from $24 to $35 a month.
  • 5 July 2026: an updated privacy notice describes sharing basic profile information, a summarized biography, profile picture and engagement metrics with services such as OpenAI when someone searches through the Linktree app inside ChatGPT.
  • The widely shared version of that second change — that page imagery is fed to an image generator — is not what the notice says. Read it before deciding; Linktree notes some integrations are unavailable in the EU.

What you give up by moving — the honest list

Anyone selling you a migration should say this part out loud, so here it is first.

  • The linktr.ee URL belongs to Linktree. You cannot redirect it, and anything already printed with it keeps pointing there.
  • Linktree's free plan allows more links than ours does — ours stops at 10, and that is a real downgrade for some people.
  • Any Linktree-specific commerce or integration you lean on has to be re-created as an ordinary link.

Copy this before you touch anything

Ten minutes here saves an evening later. Do it while the old page is still up and you still have access.

  • Every link's label and destination URL, in a plain text file or a spreadsheet.
  • Your profile image and any custom thumbnails, at full size rather than screenshotted.
  • A screenshot of your current analytics, so you have a before-picture to measure the move against.

Rebuild the page

The rebuild is the short part, and the only step with any novelty to it.

  • Create the free page and claim the handle you want — take it before someone else does.
  • Paste the links back in the order they performed in, not the order they happened to be in.
  • Pick one of the 11 free templates, match your colours, and generate the QR code if you use one.

Update every place the old link lives

This is the step people half-finish, and it is the one that actually costs traffic.

  • Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X and every other bio field — including the ones you had forgotten you owned.
  • Email signatures, pinned posts, and link stickers in saved Stories and highlights.
  • Printed material: business cards, menus, packaging. A printed QR code is the one thing you cannot fix remotely, so plan a redirect or a reprint.

Will my linktr.ee link redirect to my new page?

No. That URL belongs to Linktree and there is no redirect to set up. This is exactly why the update step matters: until you change each bio field yourself, that traffic still lands on the old page.

Do I lose my click history?
