Give each business card its own name, photo and bio

Most people are one person in several rooms. Your cards can finally say so: on Pro, each business card carries its own picture, name and bio instead of borrowing your profile header.

Most people are one person in several rooms.

The card you hand to a client at an invoice conversation and the card you hand to a stranger at a conference are the same human being, but they are not the same introduction. One says what my company does. The other says who I am and why you should remember me on Monday.

Until this week, Linkhiver could not tell those apart. You could keep several business cards — free plans hold two, Pro holds twenty — and each one had its own contact details, its own QR code and its own link. But the top of every card was the same: whatever picture, name and bio sat on your public page's header, repeated on every card you owned.

That is fixed. On Pro, each card now carries its own picture, name and bio.

What actually changed

Three fields, on the card rather than on the page. Open Business Card, pick the card you want to change, and there is a new Card appearance panel under the contact details: a picture, a name and a one-line bio.

Fill them in and that card introduces itself. Leave any of them empty and it goes on inheriting your profile header — field by field, so a card can carry its own name while keeping your photo, which is the version most people want.

Nothing was taken away

This is worth stating plainly, because a new Pro panel appearing next to something you already use can read as a door closing.

Nothing closed. A card with no branding of its own works exactly as it did yesterday, inheriting your profile header, on every plan. That is what every existing card does right now and what free cards go on doing. The Pro part is only the ability to make one card differ from the others.

And if you ever leave Pro, the branding you already saved keeps rendering. You can keep editing everything else on that card — a new phone number, a new website, a new link — and none of it is blocked. What you cannot do without Pro is change the picture, name or bio to something new.

Where the card's name travels

This is the part to know before you use it, because a card's name is not only a heading on a page. When a card has its own name, that name is what people get in four places:

  • The card's page at linkhiver.com/card/your-slug
  • The link preview when someone pastes that link into WhatsApp, iMessage or Slack
  • The saved contact — tap Save contact and it is the name that lands in their phone's address book
  • The Apple or Google Wallet pass, for anyone who keeps the card in their wallet

The third one is the one that surprises people. If you name a card "Acme Studio", then someone who saves it gets Acme Studio in their contacts, not your personal name. That is intentional — the whole reason to brand a card separately is that this card is the studio — but it is a real decision, so make it on purpose.

What is still shared, and why

The colours, the fonts, the buttons and the background still come from your page's design. They are not per-card, and that is deliberate rather than unfinished.

A business card is not a second website. It is a room in the same house — the same materials, a different person standing in it. Letting every card repaint the walls would turn one coherent brand into five half-designed pages, and the thing that makes a card feel legitimate when a stranger opens it is that it looks like it belongs to something.

Setting one up

  1. Go to Business Card in your dashboard.
  2. Pick the card you want (or add one — free holds two, Pro holds twenty).
  3. Scroll to Card appearance and add a picture, a name, a bio — any of the three, or all of them.
  4. Watch the phone on the right: it updates as you type, so you can see the card before you commit to it.
  5. Press Save.

Not on Pro? The panel still works. Fill it in, watch the preview, and decide with the thing in front of you rather than from a feature list — the save is the only step that asks you to upgrade.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need Pro for this?

To give a card its own picture, name or bio, yes. To keep business cards, no — two cards, their contact details, their QR codes and their public pages are free, and a card that inherits your profile header is free forever.

What happens to a branded card if I stop paying?

It keeps working and keeps showing what you saved. You can go on editing everything else on it. Only changing the picture, name or bio to a new value needs Pro again.

Does this change my public page?

No. Your page's header — the one at linkhiver.com/yourname — is untouched. This only changes what an individual card says about itself.

Which name gets saved to someone's phone?

The card's name, when it has one; your profile name otherwise. The same rule applies to the Apple and Google Wallet passes.

Can I use a logo instead of a photo?

Yes. The picture is just an image you upload — a logo, a product shot, a photo of you. It renders as a circle, so centre what matters.
