Free plans, compared

A free Linktree alternative — and what each free plan actually gives you

Linktree's free plan is real, and so is ours, and they are not the same shape. Theirs lets you publish as many links as you like and keeps its footer on your page. Ours caps the list and hands you 30 days of click history, short links, QR codes and a digital business card at no charge — things this category usually sells. This page is only about that comparison. If what you want is the whole product argued side by side, the full comparison is the better read; if you have already decided and want the move done, the migration guide is the page for that.

What the free plan gives away

Every row below is on Linkhiver’s free plan, and is a paid tier somewhere else in the category — or is not sold at all. Each claim names the other product’s own tier and the day we read it, and links to the comparison it came from.

Prices last read August 2026. “Not on any plan” means the feature does not appear on the plans we read — not that it cannot be done another way. Prices in this category change often, so we re-read them every quarter and stamp the table with its oldest reading.

What Linktree's free plan actually gives you

Start with the honest part, because a comparison that opens by attacking the other product is not a comparison. Linktree's free tier is generous where it counts for a lot of people: you can publish as many links as you like, it takes minutes to set up, and it is by far the most recognised name in the category. What it holds back is the branding and most of the measurement — the Linktree footer stays on your page on the free plan, and the longer analytics history starts on a paid tier.

  • No cap on the number of links you publish.
  • The Linktree footer stays on the page until you pay.
  • Basic click counts are free; the longer history and the breakdowns are not.
  • Set-up takes under five minutes, and the name is one everybody recognises.

What our free plan gives you that theirs does not

The table above is the whole answer, and every figure in it is read from one place and carries the date we read it — so a price that goes out of date goes out of date everywhere at once and is fixed once. The short version: the things this category usually charges for are on our free plan. 30 days of click history rather than a window that closes behind you, short links with their own click counts, QR codes, and a digital business card people can save straight into their contacts.

  • 30 days of click history, on every link.
  • Short links with a custom back-half and their own click counts.
  • QR codes you can download as PNG, with scan counts on your dashboard.
  • A digital business card with a vCard download and its own QR code.
  • An email signup block on your page, and the subscriber list it fills.

Where Linktree's free plan wins, and it is not close

One place, and it is the one most people ask about first: the number of links. Linktree does not cap it on the free plan and we do. If your page is a long list — a musician with a back catalogue, a shop with twenty products, an affiliate page — that cap is the first thing you will meet, and no amount of analytics history makes up for a link you cannot publish. Worth knowing before you spend an afternoon rebuilding.

  • Unlimited links on Linktree's free plan; ours is capped at 10.
  • If your list is longer than that today, the free plan here will not fit it.
  • Galleries count against the same cap — a gallery is one row on your page like any other link.
  • Pro raises the cap to 50; the pricing page carries the exact figures.

What we charge for, said before you start

A generous free plan is only worth anything if the line is drawn where we say it is, so here is the other side of it. Pro buys the page's identity and its deeper numbers: your own domain, our badge off the bottom of your page, analytics broken down by device, country and source, the history beyond 30 days, editable SEO fields and a share image, tracking pixels, and subscriber export. None of that is on the free plan, and nothing on this page pretends otherwise.

  • Your own domain — which Linktree sells on no tier — and the Linkhiver badge removed from your page.
  • Device, country and source breakdowns, plus history beyond the free 30 days.
  • SEO title, description and share image; Meta, TikTok and GA4 pixels.
  • Subscriber CSV export and a daily digest — collecting them stays free.
  • More themes, more header layouts, video backgrounds and branded QR codes.

Moving over, if you decide to

It is an afternoon, and the rebuild is not the slow part. Copy your links out of Linktree as a list, paste them in here in one go, then work through every place the old address is published — the bio field on each network, your email footer, anything printed. Your linktr.ee address belongs to Linktree and there is no redirect to set up, so until you change each of those yourself, that traffic keeps landing on the old page. The step-by-step version is its own page.

  • Paste your links as a list rather than adding them one at a time.
  • Download your profile photo at full size before you stop using the old page.
  • Update the bio field on every network, not just the one you use most.
  • Screenshot whatever click history you want to keep — it does not transfer.

Frequently asked questions

Is the free plan really free, or is it a trial?

A plan, not a trial. There is no countdown on it, no card asked for at signup, and no expiry on your page, your links or your analytics history. Pro is a decision you can make later, or never.

How many links do I get for free?

Ten, plus ten short links, five QR codes and two digital business cards. Galleries count against the link cap, because a gallery is one row on your page like any other link. Linktree does not cap links on its free plan, so if your list is long today, that is the honest reason to stay where you are.

Do I have to pay to see my click numbers?

No. Per-link clicks, page views and QR scans are on the free plan, with 30 days of history that does not roll off behind you. What Pro adds is the breakdown — which device, which country, which source — and the history beyond that window.

What if the free plan stops being free later?

Our commitment is that Pro adds rather than takes: if a free limit ever has to change, it gets announced on our changelog rather than discovered from your own dashboard. Both commitments are written out on the pricing page, alongside the prices they apply to.
