Almost every dead WhatsApp link has the same cause: the number was written the way it is written at home. wa.me wants the full international number in digits, with no plus sign, no spaces and no national trunk zero.
A link can carry a message that is already typed into the chat box when it opens. The person still presses send, so nothing is sent without them — but they no longer have to work out how to start.

As the full international number, digits only: country code first, then the number without its national leading zero, and no plus sign, spaces or dashes. A Turkish 0532 000 00 00 becomes 905320000000; a Brazilian (11) 90000-0000 becomes 5511900000000. The builder above does the stripping and warns if a leading zero is still there.
